Phillippines Day 3 @
12/12/11
Rise and Shine on Day 3, when
everyone held their excitement within themselves before moving out for our school
visit trips. Definitely, all of us can’t wait to see how the particular school
which we will be helping out and have donated our donations to them for
building the classroom before our arrivals.
Settled out of our bunk early @ 800am
on our usual Magic School Bus (MSB), to head off for the first school that is
on the itinerary of the day.
Breakfast first, then cheers… woohoo off we go! ^^
To be honest, I was not very astonished
by how the school conditions are or their functions, as I have already prepared
myself mentally with their quality of living. Maybe because I could understand
and tolerate how people live in these Kampong-ish style of living? I remembered
I used to stay in kampong when I was real young and I could also tolerate mosquitoes
bites. So the itchiness is nothing unless the bites look rare and weird,
otherwise, Im fine with bites. However, one thing that really surprised me was
the locals’ attitudes towards life. They all seem so content and happy with
their life and when we chatted with them (the students), their future, they
really have big dreams, but resources are really, really, really limited for
them to have the opportunity for enhancements. We all wish we could help them;
likewise, our resources and help are limited too. =(
But to me hor, I think that these
schools which we had visited are slightly more well off them some others. I
will show you guys in later part of my trip. Can I consider them to be slightly
more luckier then some others who really doesn’t even have the chances to
study?
These two girls are the top two modest students to bring us around.
Their library. Books are all donated from Singapore.
Singapore Kids really do have to start appreciate things. Myself too. I must be content. =)

Their tables and chairs. Singapore kids must really appreciate things more.
Oh oh! Their home-econs very very interesting and hands-on!
See the layer of rice, they are being harvest by the kids early in the morning. Students liternary go down to the muddy fields to pluck them and plant new seeds for the next growth. Then all this dried rice seeds are being sifetd to remove the brown layer. (don know whats that called. not paying attention.)
After a tour round the campus, one of the teacher asked the boys to join his students for a quick sepak session. I wanted to try leh! But no girls wanna join me in. So i dropped that idea. Let the guys have fun. =D
Group photos at the first school.
Some student practicing dance. A combi of them.
Loitered around their school compound and visited their canteen.
Yes. What you saw is their canteen. Stalls that are located behind their classroom which only sell snacks for the students to have their breaks. I guess there are no strict no restriction for them to buy their snacks, though they still have a fixed timetable to follow. Oh yar! The students there study for 8 hrs each day okay. From 830am to 530pm, after that some might have CCAs.

Final grp photo for this first school trip.

This is the third school we are visiting and will be the school which we will be helping to constructed a classroom. With this overwhelming warm welcome from the students.
Me, Jane & Rica
Jane: soft-spoken and very friendly girl
Rica: once you got to know her, she is very out-spoken and hyer girl. So much fun and laughter was created by her to us.
Self-intro talent. LOL-ed when i remember Nathan was doing his shuffling on those muddy floors. HAHA!
After a tour round the school (apparently, there isnt much classroom available), where it is a one straight structures only. Taking a look at what we have to do, plan and execute, we are heading back to our bunks and have our catered lunch. =))
Then after, its packing and purchasing of paints and miscellaneous.
Er ning brought a pack of mask, we utilized it usefully for packing. Too much dusty, some of us have to cover to prevent worsting our flu bugs.
While the other half went town to purchase all the materials and miscellaneous.
